REV TO THE LIMIT
We've already reviewed the McLaren P1 here at RevToTheLimit. For those who don't know it is the long awaited successor to the mighty McLaren F1, one of our favorite cars ever. The McLaren P1, if not the fastest car in the world (we're sure Ferrari's upcoming LaFerrari will have something to say about that), according to Chris Harris it is the most exciting hypercar. Chris Harris is lucky enough to get a full rundown of the technical details from Chris Goodwin who was the Chief Test Driver for McLaren Automotive. He then gets to thrash the P1 on the new $1.2 million McLaren P1 at the Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit in Abu Dhabi at night. Fair warning, the McLaren P1 video is almost 30 minutes long. It is worth watching the whole thing. While there are a few other good videos online this week of the 903bhp McLaren P1, the other favorite we have is the Autocar review. They definitely agree with Chris Harris that the P1 is certainly one of the most exciting hypercars ever. But is it better than a Porsche 918 Spyder? That was the question that Steve Sutcliffe, one of the few in the world to have driven both had asked when making the below McLaren P1 video.

The McLaren P1 is the long awaited successor to the mighty McLaren F1 of 1994, and as such represents the pinnacle of achievement, both now and in the foreseeable future as far McLaren Automotive's expanding range of road cars is concerned. For the time being it is, says McLaren, if not the fastest car in the world - that title almost certainly belongs to Ferrari's even more potent, slightly lighter LaFerrari - then the most exciting hypercar to drive the world has ever seen. Autocar, the world's leading motoring magazine and website, delivers industry-leading news, the most in-depth car reviews and opinion from our team of experts. Our presenters include some of the world's top motoring journalists who have unrivalled access to the world's fastest, rarest, most exotic and most exciting cars on some of the world's best roads and race tracks. Fresh off today's rumors from Autocar that the McLaren P1 destroyed the 'Ring to the tune of six minutes and 30+ seconds. If this is true, it would put the McLaren P1 into a class of its own, beating the recent awesome time by the Porsche 918 Spyder. We decided to review the McLaren P1 and summarize what we've heard to date. Perhaps the best summary thus far came from Jeremy Clarkson, who said ""The P1 is a car that runs silently when you're in town and then rips your face off when you aren't" |
