REV TO THE LIMIT
The moment many of us have been waiting for is upon us: the 2015 evo Car of the Year video is now live.
With an eclectic mix of hot hatches, sports cars and red-blooded supercars, this year’s 11 contenders were arguably the best ever. If you haven’t already read our eCoty magazine feature - in association with Michelin (in evo issue 216) - deciphering which car is favourite for the win is a near impossible task. Despite being so different from one another, each car genuinely stands an equal chance at claiming victory.

Chris Harris has just released the comparison test between the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and McLaren P1. The 52-minute video consists of timed head-to-head laps between the cars followed by individual on-track reviews of both and wrapped up with an epic track battle between the cars thanks to the help of Tiff Needell and Marino Franchitti. Unsurprisingly of most interest is just which of the 918, LaFerrari and P1 is the fastest at the stunning Portuguese circuit. To make things fair between the LaFerrari and P1, both were fitted with brand new Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres while the 918 Spyder was running on its standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. At the circuit, the P1 came out on top with a 1:53.57 followed by the 918 Spyder at 1:53.98 and the LaFerrari at 1:54.25. When the P1 was fitted with the optional track-only Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, it recorded a 1:51.78. Wow. The second part of Alejandro Salomon’s epic ‘Hyper 5′ comparison test between the LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder, Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Pagani Huayra and McLaren P1 has been released. This clip gets down to business with all five of the hypercars hitting the track to see which is fastest. Henry Catchpole reckons the new 911 Carerra S with all new turbo engine is still as amazing as ever. |
