The 2015 Mustang was finally unveiled today after years of speculation and rumors. The sixth generation Mustang is a stunning looking car and is wider and lower than the outgoing model. 

Perhaps the biggest change is the new four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. Enthusiasts were concerned about it, but this little engine is going to deliver 305 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, not bad at all. The availability of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine in addition to the familiar V-6 and V-8 options should make the Mustang more exciting in Europe. The good news is that the Mustang GT continues with a 5.0-liter V-8, which now features an upgraded valvetrain and cylinder heads that yield more than 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. A new intake manifold improves low-speed breathing for better fuel economy, idle stability and emissions.
The clean-sheet design has a long sculpted hood, short rear deck, cool tail-lights and fastback roofline. With a lower, wider stance plus the reduction in roof height and wider rear fenders the car looks decidedly more sporty than the outgoing model. This is the first truly global Mustang and it is packed full of new technology. The highlight is the new chassis, which Ford says makes the 2015 Mustang my nimble than the Boss 302 (which is our favorite Mustang in the last 30 years).  Let's hope Ford is right because if they can pull it off, this car could be a dynamic wonder. 

The Mustang has also come raging into the future with all-new front and rear suspension systems--including a multi-link setup at the rear - no more archaic set up here. At the front, a new perimeter subframe helps to stiffen the structure while reducing mass, providing a better foundation for more predictable wheel control that benefits handling, steering and ride. 

At the rear is the all-new ‘integral-link’ independent rear suspension--a major plus over the solid axle. The geometry, springs, dampers and bushings all have been specifically modified and tuned for high-performance. New aluminum rear knuckles help reduce unsprung mass for improved ride and handling.

As mentioned, the release of the 2015 Mustang helps celebrate the car’s 50th anniversary, which officially takes place on April 17, 2014. Each 2015 Mustang celebrates the milestone with a badge on the instrument panel that includes the galloping pony logo and the words “Mustang – Since 1964.”
